No Art Sales through Social Media. Here is Why.

If you're sharing your artwork on social media; but not getting any exposure or engagement, here is why.

In recent years, social media algorithms have shifted from network-based to interest-based.

This means, in the past, when you posted a new painting, the algorithm would show the painting to some of your followers, and then organically show the painting to your followers' network as well.

However, today, when you post a new painting, the algorithms will still show the painting to some of your followers, but then will ignore your followers' network, and try to show your painting to other random people with similar interests. The problem is that if the algorithm cannot associate a specific interest with your social post; then it will ignore your post and thus will not suggest your post to other people.

The good news is that social algorithms can quickly detect belief-based interests, whether it’s about believing in freedom, animals, human emotions, nature or any other beliefs about life in general. This means, by relating a specific belief or interest to your social post, you're helping the algorithms expand your exposure and get organic engagement.

This algorithmic change is a huge opportunity for artists to apply the belief-based approach to organically promote and sell their artwork.
